Does Your Home Need a Zoned HVAC System?

Almost every home with a traditional AC system has one or two rooms that don’t receive the same amount of cooling or heating as the rest of the house. If you find yourself needing air conditioning services often in order to enjoy even heating and cooling around your home, you might want to think about getting a new HVAC system.

Zoned Systems

Perhaps the answer to your problem is a zoned HVAC system. Also called a multi-zone system, this type of HVAC system divides a building into different temperature “zones”. Each one of these zones has its own thermostat, so you can control the temperature in different areas of your home with more ease and reliability.

The independent thermostats around the house are all connected to a central control panel. This panel regulates the temperatures in different areas (zones) by using dampers. Dampers close or open to control airflow to these zones. If the desired temperature is reached in a zone, the thermostat will alert the control panel, which will close the dampers in that zone to stop the flow of air.

Is a Zoned System Right for Your Home?

While virtually any home can benefit from a zoned HVAC system, some have a greater need for it than others. Before searching online for “air conditioning repair near me”, determine if your type of home will benefit from a zoned system.

If your home has none of these features and there’s nothing wrong with your current HVAC system, yet you still have hot spots in the summer and cold spots in the winter, talk to your contractor about replacing it with a zoned HVAC system.
